MALICE clips
Click here for a video tutorial on the proper use of Malice clips.
While Malice clips are a preferred method of attachment in the military, law enforcement, and professional gear sector, they're relatively unknown in the recreational field.
There are a litany of reasons why Malice clips outperform other options-
-Flexible polymer is impervious to corrosion, rain, dust, cold, heat, and tearing.
-Injection molded single component parts offer much more consistency and durability compared to multi component sewn options.
-Compatible with MOLLE, PALS, ALICE, uniform belts, and duty belts.
-Positive tab and slot locking system requires deliberate action to detach, will not inadvertently come undone unlike strap and snap systems.
-Stronger and easier to weave and attach than strap and snap systems.
-Moveable from pouch to pouch.
-Cannot tear loose from a pouch.
-Made in the USA.
Vietnam era LC-1, LC-2, and ALICE (All-purpose Lightweight Individual Carrying Equipment) gear was eventually replaced by the current MOLLE/PALS (Modular Lightweight Load carrying Equipment) / (Pouch Attachment Ladder System) gear.
The original method of attaching MOLLE/PALS pouches to platforms was via the “Natick snap” system. This method utilizes a number of stiffened lengths of webbing sewn into the pouch. The stiffened webbing has a female snap at the bottom that secures to a male snap attached to the pouch.
These and similar systems, while serviceable, are not ideal. Snaps and straps attached to a pouch will eventually fail and tear out of place. Snaps are vulnerable to corrosion, fouling (dirt, debris, etc), deformation, and breakage. Snaps do not offer a positive locking system. When a pouch is constantly manipulated while attached to a platform, those forces are transmitted to the snap and it will inadvertently come undone and/or fail. Unwanted snap separation could be avoided using directional “Pull the Dot” snaps but that will only solve one of the many deficiencies of snaps.
Many other integrated and stand alone attachment systems exist. Most are multi component parts consisting of nylon webbing, nylon webbing and plastic hardware, nylon webbing and snaps, and plastic. They all have their strengths and weaknesses but none of them perform as well as Malice clips.
Malice clips are easy to use, cost effective, made in the USA, and are about as close as one can get to unbreakable.
